Turkish and Korean ceramic fine artists meet in Alaçatı
Ceramic fine artists from Turkey and Korea meet in Alaçatı in August for holding a joint exhibition and to carry out a mural activity together.
Ceramic Fine Artist Ferhan Taylan Erder and Prof. Suku Park held a ceramics workshop July 26-August 6, 2006, getting the support of their close friends, Alaçatı Municipality and Başkent University, in Alaçatı; sharing and developing the idea of creating a permanent art work, bringing together Turkish and Korean ceramic artists, with Tüzüm Kızılcan. Korean ceramic artists Prof.Suku Park, Hyun-Sik In, In-Sook Rhee, Joo Hee Lee and Hyun-Kyung Kim, and Turkish ceramic artists Ferhan Taylan Erder, Tüzüm Kızılcan, Mutlu Başkaya and Atilla Kılıç attended the workshop.
Four Turkish and five Korean ceramic artists who participated in this art event continuing with their work in the Cooking school to be re-organized as Alaçatı Sub-District Museum, installed the magnificent mural of 40x225 cm, each part of which was built by an artist on a public space in Alaçatı. This joint production mural was left to Alaçatı Sub-District as a gift from the artists and hence, a work of art, which would bring visitors to any settlement, was produced by solidarity of Başkent University, Garanti Bankası and Alaçatı Municipality.
Also, a Sagar Firing display was held at Tüzüm Kızılcan’s studio in Izmir and a Raku display under supervision of Mutlu Başkaya and Atilla Kılıç was held at Alaçatı Sub-District Square on the occasion of the workshop, allowing artists and viewers to participated. The works produced in these events were displayed to spectators at the Çatı Art Gallery in Alaçatı.
