The production infrastructure is becoming stronger in our country with the potential of offering new products to the domestic and international markets growing increasingly. On many products competing in the global market today, is the stamp of the high quality production in our country. The concrete results of the technological innovations and improvements achieved by companies on products as a result of their R&D investments are also being observed more and more. On the other hand, high quality production and technological innovations may only be reflected on to the final product only by way of the value added afforded by industrial design. Every passing day, it is better understood that use of industrial design as an effective tool allows companies to gain one of the most significant powers in competition.

In this context, the design oriented activities started 15 years ago by TEA (Turkish Exporters Assembly) has continued with increasing intensity especially over the last 7 years, boosting the designer-industrialist relationship which has encouraged TEA to realize a very important project for Turkey.

This project developed for rewarding good design, furthering the needs of the consumer in Turkey, which adds value added to the product, allowing it to gain competitive superiority in the export markets and the national market, comprises a design evaluation and award system as part of the TURQUALITY Program under the title of “Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards” with the collaboration of TEA and Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade (UFM). The applications for the project have started  to be taken via the website www.designturkey.org.tr which was launched on the same day.

In products to be evaluated under this project, expected to be deployed as an effective marketing tool, which will document the design value borne by products, strengthening the strategic positions in the market, telling the consumer what he should expect from good design in addition to forming a powerful means of communication between design and industry in Turkey, designs are required to have been produced and launched within three years as a maximum and production or brand ownership must be of Turkish origin.
