Zeynep Bodur Okyay elected Turkish Ceramics Federation President
The ordinary general meeting of Turkish Ceramics Federation incorporating the various associations and unions of the Turkish Ceramics Industry was held on June 5, 2008 at federation headquarters. The activity report for 2005-2008 and bylaws amendments were presented to the members at the general meeting attended by the representatives of associations affiliated with the Federation and the new president and members of the Board of Directors were elected unanimously. The new president of Turkish Ceramics Federation became Kale Group President Zeynep Bodur Okyay who received the entirety of the votes at the General Meeting election.
At the Regular General meeting of Turkish Ceramics Federation, Ahmet Yamaner (SERKAP) was elected as Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors with Kemal Yıldırım (TIMDER) becoming Accountant Member, and Birgi Çekçi (SERSA), Faruk Arısoy (SEREF), Selim Çiçek (SERHAM) and Tolun Vural (TSF) elected as Members of the Board. Mustafa Girgin, Necmettin Arman and Hasan Sazcı were elected as Principal Members of the Board of Auditors, and Ilhami Tezcan, Hanifi Mutlu and Mehmet Arslan were elected as Principal Members of the Discipline Board unanimously.
Zeynep Bodur Okyay, who offered her thanks to the members after the election, stating that she will strive to carry this flag with enthusiasm and joy as a member of the ceramics family she has been part of since the day she was born, said that she thanked to individuals who worked on a voluntary basis until now the member unions and associations in the name of the sector and herself. Okyay said; “The Turkish ceramics industry has a different and powerful position not only in Turkey but also in the world due to its capacity, quality, competitive power, entrepreneurship, diversity, work force, share of exports and its driving role in the country’s economy. With the power it gets from this position, Turkish Ceramics Federation will pursue its activities progressively as the blanket organization of the industry in collaboration with public agencies and also the other associations/organizations of the sector. To develop our industry, contributing to its sustainable growth, will be our main target in parallel with the development of our country which has a great advancement potential in Europe and the world. I believe that as the ceramics industry, we will make a major contribution to our country’s long-term objective of becoming a regional power in 2010 and a global one by 2020.
Various unions and associations like Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association (SERKAP), Ceramic Sanitary Ware Manufacturers Association (SERSA), Ceramics and Refractories Manufacturers Association (SEREF), Ceramics, Glass and Cement Raw Material Manufacturers Association (SERHAM), Installation and Building Materials Suppliers Association (TIMDER) and Turkish Ceramics Association (TSD) are under the roof of Turkish Ceramics Federation. The Federation, operating to seek solutions to the common economic, social and technical problems of associations formed by companies engaged in the manufacturing, sales and marketing of industrial and artistic, any type of ceramic ware, porcelain ware, refractories and raw materials thereof and to support the research and development and technical production efforts for raising product quality and productivity, represents one of the leading industries of Turkey with a production capacity reaching 2 billion Euro and exports of 1 billion Euro. The industry provides employment to 220,000 people directly or indirectly.
