After SERES 2007
4th International Ceramics, Glass, Enamel, Glaze and Dye Seminar (SERES 2007) was held in the halls of Anadolu University, Yunusemre Campus, Convention Center, November 26-28, 2007. At the SERES seminars, continuations of 3rd International Ceramics, Glass, Enamel, Glaze and Dye Seminar (SERES 2005) which was held October 17-19, 2005 by Turkish Ceramics Association , again with great support of Anadolu University; academicians, artists, designers and those employed in the industry in the fields of ceramics, glass, enamel, glaze and dye under broad topic titles are brought together, seeking sharing of store of knowledge and experience, identifying the possibilities of cooperation. This series of seminars is also significant for having related disciplines embrace. The topics addressed in SERES 2007 were glaze and dye in the ceramics industry, ceramics, glass, glaze, enamel and dye raw materials, making use of waste in ceramics, glass, glaze and dyes; ceramic, glass and dye production processes; ceramics, glass glaze and dye in archaeology, decor and decoration, ceramics and glass in architecture, Design, Archaeometry, Quality Control and Environmental impacts.
SERES 2007 participant profile
More than 450 people including members of faculty and students of Ceramics Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Ceramics, Glass, Design, History of Art, Archaeology and Architecture Departments, freelance fine artists, employees of member firms of Turkish Ceramics Federation, civil servant in applicable state agencies and local and international invited guests attended SERES 2007.
SERES 2007 events
Compared to SERES 2005, there was an increase of 43 % in terms of papers presented. Also, 7 workshops were held by ceramics and glass artists who are leaders in their fields at SERES 2007 where in total 131 papers were presented. The number of invited speakers rose to 31 from 16 in SERES 2005. Of these, 16 speakers were from Germany, USA, Australia, Austria, Estonia, England, Italy, Japan, Korea, Egypt and Poland. Also, the number of institutions providing support in kind and in cash to the seminar went up from 11 in 2005 to 20 in 2007.
On the occasion of the seminar, a juried ceramics exhibition entitled SERES 2007 “Phrygian Inspirations” at Anadolu University Library Exhibition Hall, a classical concert at Atatürk Culture Center (AKM) and also a fashion show with audio and light effects with the theme Phrygian Inspirations was held again at AKM.
