Cairo Tower, refurbished by VitrA Tile and VitrA Fix products
Cairo Tower, one of the most striking structures of Egypt is being refurbished by VitrA brand tiles and VitrA Fix products. The renovation work of the Tower, which started in November 2004, will be completed in 2008, as planned. As part of the project, 4,000 m2 surface of the chevron shaped trusses forming the Tower was covered by VitrA porcelain mosaic tiles of 2.5x2.5 cm custom manufactured in colors true to the original.
Eczacıbaşı Building Chemicals officials, who also offer advisory services on plaster repair, stated that they used VitrA Fix Ultra System adhesives with developed technical qualities produced specifically for the project. In addition to Flex joint fillers, VitrA Fix MS 02 Polimer Mastic is used in the expansion joints in the project.
The top portion of the Tower which has a chevron shaped truss structure opening as a fan, resembles a lily. Cairo Tower, which had the title of the tallest reinforced structure of the world when first built, had not undergone any alteration for close to 40 years.
