CTDA(Ceramic Tile Distributors Association) members visit Turkish ceramicists
Approximately 150 ceramic importers, who are members of Ceramic Tile Distributors Association-CTDA operating in the world’s largest ceramic tile importing country, USA, came to Istanbul. The visit was organized by the Ceramics Promotion Committee.
The Ceramics Promotion Committee formed through the collaboration of Central Anatolia Exporters Unions (CAEU), Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade (UFT) and Ceramics Federation which incorporates the leading firms of the Turkish ceramics industry said welcome to the group of visitors comprising the Chairman and Members of CTDA which incorporates the ceramic tile distributors most opted for by US consumers by a cocktail party given at Swissotel on the evening of June 12.
Minister of State Kürşad Tüzmen, President of Ceramics Federation Adnan Polat, Chairman of Ceramics Promotion Committee Ahmet Yamaner and CTDA members, representatives of Turkish firms and officials of Secretariat General of Central Anatolia Exporters Unions attended the meeting organized at Swissotel by the Ceramics Promotion Committee on June 13.
In his speech at the meeting, Ceramics Federation President Adnan Polat told that they had been busy in USA for 2 years to bring CTDA members to Turkey.
CTDA President Mark Carlson said that they carried out such events as CTDA to allow their customers to follow the innovations in the industry and to satisfy demand. Carlson said; “We are in Istanbul for responding to the expectations of our customers and to review firsthand the Turkish ceramics which go back to millenniums ago and the quality and magnitude of the firms in the industry.
Ministry of State Kürşad Tüzmen, who took the floor subsequently, stated that trade between USA and Turkey was much below its potential. Adding that Turkey, which started to attack with its trade volume and export capacity, drew the attention of the whole world, said; “Turkey is one of the leading ceramics manufacturers and exporters of the world with its quality, diversity and price advantage”.
Lastly, a presentation with the theme “The Ceramics Industry in Turkey” was made by Ceramics Federation Secretary General Germiyan Saatçioğlu.
After the meeting, CTDA members toured the exposition where Kale Seramik, Vitra, Altın Çini, Termal Seramik, Kütahya Seramik, Ege Seramik, Umpaş Seramik, Yüksel Seramik and Graniser promoted their wares.
The guests who visited Dolmabahçe Palace, Archaeology Museum, Basilica Cistern, Haghia Sophia Mosque, Topkapı Palace and Covered Bazaar got the chance to become closely familiar with Turkish culture and history, thanks to these tours. The guests spent pleasant hours at the dinner served on a boat by Central Anatolia Exporters Unions the same day.
The members, who toured Ege Seramik, Eczacıbaşı Karo Seramik, Kale Seramik, Termal Seramik, Toprak Seramik and Yüksel Seramik plants on June 14, took the opportunity to examine our technology and products on site.
The visit of CTDA members came to an end at a gala dinner given by Ceramics Federation at Sait Halim Pasha Seaside Mansion on the evening of June 15. Ceramics Federation President Adnan Polat handed out a silver tray and a Kütahya tile design plaquette to CTDA President Mark Carlson at the gala event. CTDA President Mark Carlson presented a bronze replica of a work by Fredric Remington which is at the oval office in the White House, the Broncho Buster sculpture, to president Adnan Polat for Turkish Ceramics Federation.
